Navigation
The heart of the AVIC N2 system lies in it's navigation
capabilities. The AVIC N2 provides accurate and detailed
route guidance for the entire United States (including
Alaska and Hawaii) and Canada . Within seconds, the
system’s extremely fast processor calculates driving
routes and provides directions to any destination via
on screen scrolling maps and voice prompts.
 Powered
by "Tele Atlas" mapping, the system uses a
massive 11-million points of interest (POI) database
with more than 258 different categories so you can search
for the nearest gas station, ATM, restaurant, or other
location. To create a route, you simply enter your destination
(by address, street name, previously saved location,
or point of interest), and the system finds the best
route for you. If you wish, you can set the AVIC N2
to display multiple routes from which to choose.
 As
you are guided along your route, points of interest
are overlaid onto the map, which is particularly helpful
when driving in unfamiliar areas. Easy-to-recognize
brand icons are used to identify hotels, restaurants,
banks, gas stations and even specific chain store locations
such as Chili’s™, Olive Gardens™,
and 76™ stations. The system also stores mapping
information in internal flash memory (7.5MB), allowing
you to utilize its built-in disc drive for audio or
video entertainment. Listen to a CD or MP3 disc as you
drive.
As you near navigation changes, the AVIC
N2 will alert you with voice prompts and graphic displays.
For example, if you were driving through Chicago, the
system would tell you that you have a right turn onto
I-80 coming up in 2 miles, and as you get near the turn,
the on-screen map will automatically switch to a close-up
of the intersection so you can see which lanes you need
to be in.
